Speaking of Ma Ingalls ...

The Professor has decided that he is comfortable enough with his manliness to allow me to share his latest accomplishment.

But first, look at this:

See? Very manly. Are we all agreed?

So, moving right along, he has, or HAD, this gigundous stack of T-shirts. So abundant that often, I could barely close the drawers when putting away clean laundry. It's been an issue in our marriage from the very beginning. But we don't need to get into that. That's what therapy is for.

Yesterday, no doubt inspired by a surge of love for me, he decided to purge the stack. Helen of Troy's face launched a thousand ships; mine launches about ten T-shirts.

But sharing my abhorrence for waste, he didn't want to do something so dastardly as throwing them all away. And we have more than enough cleaning rags, thankyouverymuch. So, are you ready for this?

HE CUT THEM ALL INTO STRIPS AND BRAIDED THEM INTO A RUG. And, at her request, a jumprope for Caroline.

And tomorrow, he'll begin a three-day walk, just like Ox-cart Man, to the nearest city to sell our wares.

Or not.

Okay, now I feel guilty about contemplating just throwing those old wire hangers into the trash.

You could have just shipped those shirts to a 3rd world country...like they did with all those "Texas Longhorns 2010 National Champions!" shirts.

he is acting like a Cuban. My husband would be so proud at the lack of waste. You would be amazed at the things we "save" around here!!! Sometimes I have to sneak them to the trash!:)

What a wonderful man you have. Please tell him that thus far I have found no need to make good on my threat to cause him physical pain, and for this he should be quite proud of himself ;-)
Much love, cousin!

I'd love to see a picture of his project! Though this is not helping my quest to get DH to part with some flannel shirts around here...

"Helen of Troy's face launched a thousand ships; mine launches about ten T-shirts." That is too funny! And I could so relate. There must be something in the air because my husband also recently decided to thin out his collection of T-shirts (also a source of tension over here). There was no braiding of rugs or jump ropes though, alas.

I recently recycled my nephew's old fave tshirts into a tshirt scarf. It turned out really cute and is SO SOFT!

Love your blog - your husband is very inventive! Mine typically shoves his in a corner of the closet until the mountain is too high to see over. :)
