What I Wore Wednesday - Redux

Much to my amusement, not only did a few of you send some kind comments my way after last Wednesday's What I Wore post inspired by The Pleated Poppy blog hop ... but also, a couple of you asked for more! From the girl who used to wear itchy knee socks held up on her skinny legs by rubber bands! Wonders never cease.

In case you're wondering, I still feel silly taking pictures of myself and posting them. Working through it, one deep cleansing breath at a time. And yes, our dresser top is often cluttered. Can we still be friends?

Question: Why bother making the effort to dress nicely? Isn't inner beauty enough? And what if no one outside your family sees you anyway?

Answer: In my personal opinion: If you're single ... best foot forward, sweets! Yes, it's what's on the inside that counts, but a little external polish never hurts your case. If you're married ... why let yourself go? Without obsessing about it, I like the Professor to know that he's still worth the effort. :-)

Now, without further ado ...

Parting thought: A friend was having a clothing crisis recently, and her gallant husband chivalrously googled "apple body type" (she is not a rectangle like me!) and came up with tons of helpful links, including YouTube videos. If you're at a loss, doing so might help you as well. Here's a link to help you determine your shape.

Also, lots of inspiration available from the links at The Pleated Poppy

...and just so you know, "the Professor" definitely appreciates the effort.

Loving these posts! I'm getting ideas and inspiration.

How do you manage to get so many great consignment finds? Tips?

Jenny, I'm not sure I have down to a science, but basically, it's repeated exposure. I have a couple of consignment shops and a couple of thrift stores that I visit semi-regularly, and the things you've seen on my blog are things I've collected over time. I don't buy anything unless I really like it -- I've learned that if I buy something just because "it's a great deal," I'll regret giving it closet space. Also, I tend to look for recognized, "better" brands (Banana, J Crew, Ann Taylor, etc.) because I know they have more longevity. Hope that helps!

Wow, the orange top with old navy skirt is smashing - what a combination! Only you could pull it off with such aplomb. You have an advantage going into this gig - you'd look stunning in burlap pajamas. I am sure your other readers would agree :)

I love finding great finds at consignment and thrift shops too! It kinda ruins you for paying more than $20 for anything else, eh? There's also something about finding some good shops to frequent. I like Plato's closet a lot - but it's mainly juniors sizes and styles. I once heard that the Goodwill in east Austin off of...aiyah, can't remember streets, Airport Blvd I think? That it tends to have lots of great name-brand stuff for some reason.

Anyhow, I still have wee little ones - for which I blame the fact that there's no way I'd be posting a daily "what I wore" series for anyone. Sometimes I wear the same thing for 2 days, whilst considering the fact that I won't see the same people I saw the day before. Haha! ;-)

Now what I know what you meant today by, "I could never pull that [what you're wearing] off!" You're right ... your goal is to look good, while my goal is to feel like I'm wearing pajamas. Ha!
Those are pretty much mutually exclusive.

Haha, Camille, you *know* that I said that with nothing but admiration. What looks flowy and bohemian on you would look like, well, pajamas on me! :-)
