I was on a dress/skirt kick this week, for some reason. Also, I had a major breakthrough in the matter of belts. Are you salivating yet?
I'd been wanting to try out more of the belted look, but alas, the belt population in my little hamlet known as a wardrobe is sadly sparse. Then -- LIGHT BULB! -- I decided to go shopping. Not at Target, but in my very own bathroom, which is where I keep all my necklaces. Hello, long beaded necklace from Sam Moon! Meet your new existence as a belt!
Yeah, it would probably work better if I had more of an hourglass figure. Oh well.
Cardigan, T-shirt, and Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Long necklace from Sam Moon
Flower pin: Birthday present from Vanessa
Gold Flip-flops: Reef Krystal
The belt made an encore appearance yesterday. Gosh, I was really in purple mode this week!
Weird lighting, I know. Off I go in my swagger wagon to book club!
Stretch Polo: Gap (super cheap around last 4th of July; that's the time to go)
Skirt: J.Jill, from local consignment shop
Belt: same long necklace from Sam Moon
Bracelet watch: Handmade from MotsDots
Shoes: Same Reef Krystal flip flops. (Highly recommended. Comfy, with a bit of a heel, and the glitter sort of dresses up any outfit.)
And, for a girly tea party date:
Sunglasses in hair: Target, of course
Pearl necklace: Wedding gift from my grandmother
Dress: Ann Taylor Loft, from local consignment shop
Shoes: Born Concepts, from DSW.
Bracelet: Oh. Wait. That's a ponytail holder. Moving right along!
And now ... you know that beaded bracelet watch? Here it is again ...
Sorry, you don't want a close-up of my midsectional area.
Anyway, it, along with a few other jeweled items I own, were made by Austin craftswoman Martha Cole, who owns two Etsy shops: the colorful, whimsical MotsDots and the more vintage-inspired Not So Dotty. Not only do I love her work, but I also love the fact that one hundred percent of her profits support her husband's missionary work with homeless street youth.
And because I also love YOU, and Martha is so kind, one of you will get to pick out a pendant -- any pendant! -- from either of her shops. Like my butterfly pendant (similar to this), which I wear with almost anything. Or something more funky like this Mexican loteria stamp.
You have until Thursday, May 26, at 11:59 p.m. to enter. I'll pick a random winner. Just answer this in the comments: What's your favorite color? (Mine's purple. Such a shocker.) If you don't have one, fabricate one.

Blue or yellow, depending on my mood :) But, I wear a lot of green, because it goes well with my complexion.
I like purple, but specificially plum, eggplant or lavender...but everyone knows I love RED...the brick red, not the orangy one. I'm not good at accessorising...I feel too plain to pull it off...any tips on how to wear scarfs or choose jewelry for an outfit?
Red! Red, red, red. It isn't the most complimentary color for my skin tone, but I don't mind. I painted my kitchen cabinets red, and a lot of my Fiesta Ware is red. My favorite foods are red. I'm just a sanguine person, I suppose!
I love orange. I don't wear much besides my UT gear but there it is. I love your blog as well. It's a guaranteed pick me up during late night nursing. :) WWIW are becoming some of my favorites. I have started wearing dresses again thx to you. Love!
Without a doubt, turquoise.
The Sam Moon belt/necklace is brilliant! Just wondering one thing, though. Are you in the same Austin that I am in? And if so, how are you wearing cardigans?
I love purple - all shades of purple and lavender, but I think royal purple is my favorite. After years of denying myself, I now have no problem with purple being the "other black" in my wardrobe. And LOL on what Raji P. says about Austin and cardigans. No way I can get away with a cardigan in this humidity! TMI but I sweat too easily!
Burgundy and any shade that hovers around that color. My bridesmaids even had to wear it for my wedding!
Some of my favorite accessories are RED....ie, red shoes, red necklace, red earrings... But I also wear a lot of BLUE too. :)
I have to go w/orange...when I taught K3, I randomly picked orange as my favorite {'cause in K3 you HAVE to have a favorite!} and for the rest of the year, I was given gifts, pictures, you-name-it, all in orange. :)

Aqua blue for me: the color of my birthstone and tropical waters. Love the necklace idea - that's what I call "adaptive reuse"!
favorite color: green. or purple. unless it is clothes, then it is blue. or pink. or brown.
love that purple flower in your first outfit!
my favorite color to wear is turquoise or maybe more of an aqua!
I really shouldn't post, since I won the great earrings from your last giveaway (thank you! thank you!), so you can count me out if you want to. (No, no!)
I love all the jewel tones: emerald, sapphire blue, ruby red, and all the others ... but my favorite by far is deep purple. Haven't you noticed? Ha.
Visiting from WIWW ~ Love the pops of purple! I like using necklaces as belts, too... well, before my big baby bump :)
My favorite color is purple too, Hannah. Must be a Taurus thing. Your WIWW posts have inspired me to dress nicer so I went shopping today. I love skorts and found a couple nice ones. Thanks.
My favorite color is green, but I tend to get the most compliments when I wear turquoise.
Love the Etsy shops!
grey...
but i like a lot of other colors as well! like coral orange and rusty-red-brown and the shade of my new nail polish, calypso blue just to name a few
My favorite is also purple, although if you looked at what I wear you would think it's black. For those of us who did not regain our slim pre-baby physique as well as you did black covers a multitude of bulges...
Turquoise. It use to be red. I don't feel fiery anymore. . .I think children have calmed me. Picture Fiji water, that's my favorite color! I really like all your outfits in this post Hannah. The purple flower pin looks lovely. I think it would like nice on a pony tail as well :)
Oops left the color comment in wrong spot..sorry! Favorite color...aqua. You look gorgeous in the car picture! Of course every pic looks great...love the skirts and flip flops..plus shopping in your own house..free!
Aqua blue and orange...is that cheating giving two?
My favorite color is purple but I wear way too many neutrals and rely heavily on black. There may also be some neon in my closet but I'll neither admit nor deny that claim.
any color that has any blue in it....teal, turquoise, aqua.....
I missed the giveaway, but my favorite color is green. I saw your belt and flower pin on the wwiw post and had to come see it. love.
